SUMMARY:Treasured Objects\, Powerful Stories
DESCRIPTION:The Museum of Cambridge is a social history museum. But what does that mean? Come and find out\, and do some social history of your own at our latest family event! \nBring along an item which provokes a memory – it could be a souvenir picked up on a family holiday or a particularly cool stick you found in the woods! It can be as valuable or mundane as you wish\, so long as it tells a story. (Try not to risk bringing anything too valuable\, though!) \nHear what goes into telling stories with objects and what social history means from our Engagement and Learning Officer. \nYou’ll be invited to share the stories of your own object before getting a chance to preserve those memories in artwork. You might be inspired to make a painting of your object\, or a collage of the event it came from. Whatever you want to make\, we’ll find a way to make it happen! \nThis event is suitable for children aged 7+ with accompanying adults. It’s FREE but tickets are required\, so book below. \nThis event is NOT a drop-in\, please arrive at the advertised start time. \n  \nDate: \nSaturday 5th July \n  \nTimes: \n11:00–13:00 \n14:00–16:00 \n  \nPlace: \nThe Enid Porter Room \nMuseum of Cambridge \n2-3 Castle Street \nCambridge \nCB3 0AQ \n  \nTickets: \nTickets are FREE\, but advanced booking is required. If you’d like to chat through any accessibility requirements\, don’t hesitate to give us a call on 01223 355159 or email enquiries@museumofcambridge.org.uk. \n  \nGetting Here: \nWe are in the centre of Cambridge. You’ll find us at the corner of Castle Street and Northampton Street. We are right beside Kettle’s Yard and only a 15-minute walk from King’s College. \nYou can park your bike at the bike parks on Bridge Street or on Northampton Street. There is a bus stop nearby on Bridge Street. Find out more about how to get here by train\, bike\, bus\, car or on foot on our website. \n  \nPhotography: \nPlease note that photographs may be taken throughout this event\, and images may be used in future marketing and reporting materials.
