SUMMARY:February Half Term 2026 - Illuminating History
DESCRIPTION:We’re lighting up the past this February Half Term at the Museum of Cambridge\, with trails and crafts relating to the Magic Lantern. \nMagic lanterns were an early type of image projector – the ancestor of film projectors used today – which were used for education and entertainment during the 17th\, 18th and 19th centuries. \nThroughout the week\, take part in a trail through the Museum and use recreation magic lanterns to see a story from Cambridge’s incredible history. \nBut that’s not all\, we are also running FREE drop-in craft sessions for you to create your own magic lantern slide picture. Come and see an original magic lantern from the Museum’s collection and try out your slide on our recreation lantern. \nWe’re also delighted to be involved in Twilight at the Museums again this year\, with a late opening on Wednesday 18th February. We’ll dim the lights and let you explore our historic building in the twilight from 4-7pm. Remember to pop over to the Enid Porter Room for the drop-in craft at the same time too! \n  \nTrail \nDuring Museum hours 14th-22nd February. \nStandard admission applies\, children 16 and under FREE! \n  \nFREE Drop-in Craft \nMonday 16th February 11:00-15:00\nTuesday 17th February 11:00-15:00\nWednesday 18th February 16:00-19:00\nFriday 20th February 11:00-15:00 \n  \n \n  \n  \n  \n  \n  \n  \nTwilight at the Museums \nWednesday 18th February 16:00-19:00 \nStandard admission applies\, children 16 and under FREE! \nFor more Twilight at the Museums: museums.cam.ac.uk/theme/twilight
