SUMMARY:Talk: Polish folk tradition and the regional folk costumes of Poland
DESCRIPTION:Poland is rich in its folklore tradition\, with each region or town having its own distinct decoration\, customs\, costumes\, songs and dances. The presentation will explore this rich tradition\, focussing on the costumes\, fabrics and embroidery that make them unique\, exploring their origins and how they have evolved in the present day. \nAbout the Speakers: \nLucyna Mazur is an art educator and lecturer. She was born in Cambridge to Polish parents and grew up in the city. She has danced with Polish folk groups for a number of years\, and this sparked her interest and study of Polish folk art and tradition. Her Polish heritage has inspired her own creative practice and she now designs fabrics which are made into textile items. \nNick Mazur also has his family’s roots in Poland and danced with Polish groups in both London and Cambridge over the years. Both Nick and Lucyna studied Polish folk choreography and ethnography at the University of Lublin in south east Poland. \n  \nAccessibility  \nYou can also read about our accessibility information on our website.
