SUMMARY:Performance: Beasts: A dramatic collaboration between the Museum of Cambridge and theatre group Encounters.
DESCRIPTION:Imagine being guided through the many rooms of the 17th-century Museum building… meeting Beasts magical\, mythical\, mystical. \nThrough a rich – though occasionally challenging – mixture of stories\, poetry\, sound\, voice\, music and movement\, this show explores the idea of Beasts in the widest possible sense. \nYou may hear of local Beasts\, from your own back garden or from folk tales. You may meet Beasts from distant times and distant places\, including the depths of the ocean. You may even encounter Beasts from mysterious medieval bestiaries and classical myths. \nWe’d love you to come to our show with curiosity\, along with a willingness to be surprised\, entertained and engaged. \nWe hope that by the end\, you are enthralled\, inspired\, moved… and reflecting on your own relationship with Beasts of many kinds.  \nBook now! \nTime: \nThursday 18 June\, Friday 19 June\, Saturday 20 June – 19.30. The performance will last approximately 75 minutes with no interval. After the show\, you are invited to stay and Meet the Actors; we will be serving alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks. \nPricing: Tickets are £20 to include post-show drinks. Please note that Encounters are donating all proceeds to the Museum of Cambridge. \nBooking: You can get your tickets here. \nGetting Here: \nWe are in the centre of Cambridge. You’ll find us at the corner of Castle Street and Northampton Street. We are right beside Kettle’s Yard and only a 15-minute walk from King’s College. \nYou can park your bike at the bike parks on Bridge Street or on Northampton Street. There is a bus stop nearby on Bridge Street. Find out more about how to get here by train\, bike\, bus\, car or on foot on our website. \nWho are we? \nEncounters is a Cambridge-based collaborative theatre group. We draw on a wide variety of resources and inspirations from different eras\, cultures and settings to create engaging public performances. We are delighted to be collaborating with the Museum of Cambridge for this production of Beasts. \nPlease note: \nThe show is ‘promenade’; you are guided to walk through the building\, experiencing scenes along the way. \nThe Museum has uneven floorboards\, narrow staircases\, crooked doorways and there is no seating throughout the performance\, so the show may not be suitable for wheelchair users or those with limited mobility. The Museum has toilet facilities. \nThe show is unsuitable for those under 16. \nThe show is not interactive – you won’t be asked to join in! \nOnly 10 places are available for each performance.
