SUMMARY:Exhibition: At Last! Votes for Women
DESCRIPTION:A collection of archival items and objects of the women’s suffrage movements \nFresh from the Women’s Library of the London School of Economics and Political Science\, we are proud to showcase banners\, sashes\, badges and documents that tell the story of the fight for equal voting rights. \nConcentrating on the fraught final years of the struggle between 1908 and 1914\, our exhibition explores the campaign methods of the three main groups for women’s suffrage\, the Women’s Social and Political Union (WSPU)\, the National Union of Women’s Suffrage Societies (NUWSS) and the Women’s Freedom League (WFL). The display also features the diaries of imprisoned campaigners and contemporary leaflets detailing protest tactics\, including a plan to ‘rush’ the House of Commons. \nThe exhibition is part of a season of activities exploring the struggle for equal voting rights running throughout September\, October and early November
