DESCRIPTION:Over the last few months\, thousands of people across Cambridgeshire have been creating their own Mini Museum celebrating what they love about Cambridge and Cambridgeshire. \nFrom punting on the River Cam\, frolicking across Wicken Fen\, Sunday lunch at the Robin Hood pub\, to playing footie in the local park – people from across the region have created a beautiful collection of miniature museums celebrating that which is most precious about living in Cambridgeshire. \nFor the first time\, these Mini Museums are going on display right here at the Museum of Cambridge\, on loan from the people who created them. Visit the exhibition in the newly reopened Attic on the top floor. Come along and the favourite places and memories of the people of Cambridgeshire paired with objects from the Museum’s collection. \nWe challenge you to think of your favourite place in Cambridge! \nMini Museums: Your Story of Cambridgeshire is a free exhibition at the Museum of Cambridge. Standard entry fees apply. Adults £6\, Students or Job Seekers £4.50. Children 16 and under are free\, as are Friends of the Museum\, Museums Association and Art Fund Members. You can also use Time Credits to visit the Museum. \nThe exhibition is on from Monday 7th August 2023- Monday 2nd October 2023. The Museum is open seven days a week during the school holidays 10-5 Monday-Saturday and 11-4 on Sundays. DESCRIPTION:Join the Museum of Cambridge online for a fascinating evening with author Lindsay Jacob. \nAuthor\, Lindsay Jacob\, talks about how the material wealth and spiritual anxieties of Anglo-Saxon East Anglia\, and limitations of the systems of law and order\, inspired him to start writing a series of pre-Conquest murder mysteries. The area was rich; but to criminals and other kingdoms\, it was ripe for theft and conquest. To the covert ‘pagan’\, it was a land of spirit-filled fens\, meres and woodland; but to the senior echelons of the Church\, these same places were home to demons and monsters. The scene was set for tensions within and between secular and spiritual worldviews to inspire murders. It’s Halloween\, and we’re ready to BOO-gie! We will be making Halloween-themed Crafts\, and having a spooky Storytime\, costumes are very welcome! Pre-booking is required.  \nWhat to Expect: \nHalloween Crafts: Let your little ones’ creativity run wild with stickers\, pom-poms\, tissue paper\, sequins\, and other spooky craft supplies. \nSpooky Storytime: Gather ’round as we share eerie tales and mysterious stories. \nCostumes Welcome: Dress up in your spookiest\, silliest\, or most enchanting costumes – the more creative\, the better! \nHeritage Toys: Discover a delightful collection of heritage toys for your little ones to play with\, creating nostalgic moments and opportunities to reminisce over toys you may have enjoyed as a child! \nPre-booking is required to secure your spot! \nWhile your little ones explore\, play\, and create\, you can mingle with other parents and caregivers over a cup of tea or coffee\, with delicious biscuits. \nThis is a free-roam play session\, allowing you and your little ones to move freely through the room\, exploring crafts\, toys\, and musical instruments at your own pace. \nAfter our spellbinding playgroup\, continue the adventure by visiting the Museum for free\, with exciting trails designed to enchant your little ones! \nEvent Details: \nWhen: Thursday morning\, 10 am – 11.30 am. \nWhere: Our Enid Porter room at the Museum of Cambridge\, accessible through the Museum courtyard with a green door adorned with typewriters and fascinating artifacts. \nSuitable for ages 1 – 5. \nHow to Book: Please book a ticket for all adults and children attending.
