The Fenland Mole Skull and Paws

£100.00

Yes that’s right- I’m the skull and paws of a Fenland mole!

Why am I living at the Museum of Cambridge? Well, in the past people living in the Fens used to worry a lot about becoming unwell, especially with illnesses like rheumatism. I was believed to have protected people from these diseases, a tradition passed down through local folklore.

Animal remains like me need to be very carefully preserved, ensuring that the temperature or humidity of the room doesn’t get too high as this encourage mould to grow.

Adopt me and you’ll be looking after a very special piece of Fenland history.
