Rise and shine! Aren’t I beautiful? I am known at the Sun Carving.

We don’t quite know how I came to be in the Museum’s collection, or even how old I really am (my memory wasn’t what it once was) – though it’s rumoured I date right back to the medieval period! Not looking too bad for my 600 or so years.

I am a favourite of the Museum staff due to my sunny disposition.

Because I am made of wood, the Museum has to be very careful to protect me from woodworm and other pests, so that I can keep brightening the day of our visitors for another 600 years!
