Historic Craft: An Introduction to Cross-Stitch

Join us on Saturday 29th June for an introduction to the wonderful world of cross-stitch. From 12:00-15:00 this free workshop will take you through the history of the craft with an opportunity to see objects from the Museum’s collection not on display to the general public, then take some time to look around our current exhibition ‘The Stories Behind the Stitches’ before getting hands-on designing and making your very own cross-stitch door hanger.

This workshop is suitable for adults and children 5+, no experience required. Our Engagement Officer will guide you through the history and the process of making your own stitched piece to take home at the end of the day.

12:00-12:30 Introduction to the history of cross-stitch with Museum objects.

12:30-13:00 Access the exhibition.

13:00-15:00 Design and stitch your own cross-stitch.
