Streetbase in Waltham Forest are a youth-led initiative that works to support young people through their mentoring and youth engagement patrols.

Here’s their video ‘Covid Youth’ that they made in partnership with the Youth Justice Board. This video was also shown to cabinet ministers and policy makers at a meeting last month. Regarding the challenges young people have faced during lockdown.

With young people’s voices being kept out of conversations that should involve them, we made this to highlight our experiences. To provide an insight into how coronavirus has impacted our lives. The participants in this video are from the Waltham Forest Streetbase Team and the Waltham Forest Young Advisors. • Our key message is to emphasise that when we overlook the importance of young people, we deny ourselves of solutions that the world is in need of. Young people are innovative, resilient and they can create change. So this is us showing our struggles. But also how we are continuing to persevere everyday. #covidyouth
