Visiting the Museum of Cambridge, you’ll experience the real history of Cambridge, the iconic university and market city, from the view of the people of Cambridge. Book a visit to the Museum to support your students in developing their understanding of the English language and local culture.

The Museum of Cambridge Experience

The Museum of Cambridge offers a truly distinctive experience for you and your students that goes beyond typical college or punt attractions!

During your visit, you can explore the three floors of our remarkable Grade II listed building. This 17th-century coaching inn is the region’s sole surviving timber-framed non-University structure. Students will marvel at the original exposed wattle and daub walls, walk upon the creaking floorboards, and immerse themselves in the captivating atmosphere of a 400-year-old former pub.

As you explore our exhibits, your students will have the opportunity to witness the tangible remnants of bygone eras, bringing to life the stories and events that have shaped the city’s identity. From hand-crafted Fenland tools and household objects to captivating photographs and documents, each artefact serves as a testament to the remarkable individuals and remarkable moments that have left an indelible mark on Cambridge’s legacy.

To round off your experience, students can browse through our shop, brimming with Cambridge mementos such as magnets, keyrings, coasters, and books. They will also discover a variety of affordable pieces created by local Cambridge artists, perfect for gifting to parents and friends.

As our valued visitor, you can enjoy complimentary amenities such as free Wi-Fi, well-maintained toilets and baby-changing facilities, and a selection of period products available for everyone’s convenience.
