Treasured Objects, Powerful Stories

5 July, 11:00 am - 4:00 pm

The Museum of Cambridge is a social history museum. But what does that mean? Come and find out, and do some social history of your own at our latest family event!

Bring along an item which provokes a memory – it could be a souvenir picked up on a family holiday or a particularly cool stick you found in the woods! It can be as valuable or mundane as you wish, so long as it tells a story. (Try not to risk bringing anything too valuable, though!)

Hear what goes into telling stories with objects and what social history means from our Engagement and Learning Officer.

You’ll be invited to share the stories of your own object before getting a chance to preserve those memories in artwork. You might be inspired to make a painting of your object, or a collage of the event it came from. Whatever you want to make, we’ll find a way to make it happen!

This event is suitable for children aged 7+ with accompanying adults. It’s FREE but tickets are required, so book below.

This event is NOT a drop-in, please arrive at the advertised start time.
