About the exhibition: Portraits of Cambridge: A Town in Transition invites you to explore a Cambridge as a town grappling with change. By the late 19th century, Cambridge had been reshaped by rapid growth, shifting industries, and an evolving streetscape. ![Poster advertising 'CATS OF CAMBRIDGE At the Meowseum [Museum] of Cambridge from 31 July to 5 October'. The light blue text contrasts the black background. There are various cats on and around the lettering: a maneki-neko or beckoning cat figurine, a card shaped like a black cat, a sepia-tone photograph of a cat, and a pair of sitting ceramic cats which are white with dark spots. In the top right corner there is a white Museum of Cambridge logo which includes an illustration of a historical building and the information 'Registered Charity 311309'. Be welcomed into the Museum’s purpose-built event space, the Enid Porter Room, with complementary tea and coffee, before entering our 16th-century building to explore the objects on display with some storytelling. Then return to the Enid Porter Room for a sensory activity related to the story you heard. |
