The Mole’s Skull and Paws

£25.00

I’m a magic mole, me.

We moles were little understood in historic Cambridgeshire. Our association with dirt and darkness led to some pretty magical rumours about our supernatural nature.  Some folks thought that if they found and kept our paws, we could prevent and soothe all sorts of maladies and ailments, including rheumatism.

We’re also said to ward off evil spirits…I told you, we’re magic.

Thankfully, these practices are no longer in use and modern moles are free to go about their moley business. Here I am nonetheless, bringing some of my folksy magic to the Fen and Folklore room at the Museum of Cambridge.

Adopt me now, and help to preserve the magic of Cambridgeshire’s heritage.
