We’re delighted to be hosting the Critter Character Creator Competition at the Museum of Cambridge! This children’s character design competition is inspired by the Museum’s current temporary exhibition, ‘Making Angelina: The World of Helen Craig’. Children can design their own animal characters, with a chance to meet Angelina Ballerina illustrator Helen Craig and win some amazing prizes.

To enter, all children need to do is come up with their very own Critter Character (an animal that acts like a person), draw it and give it a name, then scan or photograph it and send it to the Museum. The competition will then be judged by illustrator Helen Craig, who will award a prize for the best character from children in Years 1-3 and one to the best character from children in Years 4-6.
This competition is for children in Years 1-6, limited to one entry per child. Children must attend a school in Cambridgeshire, or be otherwise educated in Cambridgeshire. The prizes are non-monetary and awarded at the discretion of Helen Craig and the Museum of Cambridge. Entries should be completed on the provided page attached below – no more than one side of A4 – and include a contact email address for an adult responsible for the child’s entry. Winners will be contacted via the provided email address. Data will only be stored for this purpose, in compliance with GDPR and the Museum of Cambridge’s Privacy Policy.
Scan or photograph and return the entry to enquiries@museumofcambridge.org.uk with Competition Entry as the subject line.
The competition runs from Monday 23rd March to Friday 1st May 2026. Any entries received after this time will not be considered.
