The Museum is delighted to announce the appointment of Alex Smaridge as the new Engagement Manager for the Museum of Cambridge. Alex will be looking after a brand-new team managing all parts of the museum’s operations and visitor experience. This will include administering events, programmes and activities across the year. Alex comes to this role from the museum already as one of the Community and Visitor Engagement Officers and worked previously with Anglesey Abbey and the National Trust.

Alex has lived in Cambridge since moving from Canada in 2016 to pursue a career in heritage. Aside from museums and heritage, Alex is an avid gardener with an allotment in Cambridge. She also spends her weekends traveling, running, cycling and working on the occasional sewing project.

Alex says: “I’ve really fallen in love with the museum since I started in May. Everyone in our community has been so welcoming and I love what we all bring to this place. I think the Museum of Cambridge is as important to this city as punting and Chelsea Buns, and I can’t wait to see what we get up to next as a team.”

Alex started her new role mid-March and will be getting in touch with volunteers and partners to say hello in the next few weeks. Annie Davis the Development Manager says: “We’re very happy to have Alex onboard in this new role and looking forward to getting stuck into new projects this year.”

Congratulations to Alex on the new role.
